Do people from central Italy(ex.Rome)feel closer to Northern Italians or Southern?

northern italians! people from central italy (such as rome) speak the northern dialect, while others from the south (naples, palermo, etc) speak the southern dialect. Each region has a different way of speaking italian but Lazio, the region rome is located in is actually the ending point where you will find people who speak the northern dialect. the dialect in the south progresses, becoming harder to understand from naples to sicily,that it may not even sound like italian! that's why people from rome would feel closer to northern italians since its easier for them to communicate amongst one another and have a better understanding what someone is saying!
